Most of the world celebrated New Year’s Day on the 1st of January and last week we celebrated Valentine’s Day, but for some people things weren’t quite like that. Whilst February 14th marked the day of romance in Western culture, it was also the beginning of the Year of the Tiger, according to the Chinese calendar.
The Tiger is the third sign in the Chinese zodiac cycle and it is a sign of courage and fearlessness, praised by the ancient Chinese as it is believed to be the sign that keeps away the three main disasters of the household – fire, thieves and ghosts. The year 2010 is a Metal year, called Geng-Yin in Chinese, and it is the mark of the Golden or White tiger, sometimes considered unlucky, as white is the colour of death in Asian culture.
The tiger is one of the most dynamic and powerful signs in the Chinese astrology and the Year of the Tiger is usually associated with big changes and social disorder. The Tiger year is a year of difficulty and normally with a Tiger year there is much conflict. Events such as the First World War, China’s invasion in Tibet and Iraqi-Sudan conflicts all commenced in a Tiger year. The nature of the Tiger is unpredictable, courageous and explosive, so this year will be more about unexpected change in your life. Be careful with your health, as a Metal year presents potential health jeopardy, and be prepared to uncover lies about the past.Labels: cueafs |
