What started out in 1973 with Al Pacino as Frank Serpico in Sydney Lumet’s film of the same name has been taken up by many film-makers of our time. From stories about police corruption, government cover-ups or the secrets of big corporations, film producers have tried to shed light on the human rights abuses.
Antoniya Petkova looks at the impact those films have on people’s awareness of those problems.
